Hendrik A. Kley was born in 1980 in Essen, Germany. Between 2001 and 2006 he studied film and media at the Filmacademy Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, with a focus on camera studies. As a student he spent several weeks at the UCLA in Los Angeles, USA and at the Filmschool in Lodz, Poland taking graduate level classes.
In 2014 he shot his first TV movie “Polizeiruf 110: Smoke on the water” as a lighting cameraman, directed by Dominik Graf.
Meanwhile Hendrik A. Kley was responsible as a DOP for numerous feature and television films including five Tatort episodes. His collaboration includes directors like Florian Baxmeyer, Friedemann Fromm, Bruno Grass, Richard Huber, Rainer Kaufmann and Stephan Wagner.
At last he shot the movie "Face of memory" - again directed by Dominik Graf.
He has also been working on various documentaries, commercials and corporate films, gaining experience in countries like the USA, Hong Kong, UK, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Turkey, France, Italy and Belgium.
He is a member of the Bundesverband Kinematografie (BVK).
